Cary D. Thompson, DVM - Practice Owner

icn_drthompson.jpgDr. Cary Thompson graduated from Michigan State University in 1971 and has practiced in Rockford since 1973. He founded Animal Medical Clinic in 1986 with the goal of providing quality veterinary care for his clients' pets. His major interests are surgery and orthopedics. He has been married to Jan since 1968 and has two daughters, Mindy and Julie. Fishing, boating, traveling and some golf occupy his spare time.


Jim Buhl, MS, DVM - Practice Owner

icn_drbuhl.jpgDr. Jim Buhl, a Rockford native, graduated in the top 10% of his class from the University of Illinois. He completed his B.S. in Biology from the University of Illinois, and his M.S. in Biological Sciences from Northern Illinois University. His interests include internal medicine and surgery. He has been married to his wife, Margaret, since 2004. They have two daughters, Taylor and Georgia.  They also have a border collie named "Indy" who keeps them busy at home playing ball and Frisbee.


J. Michael Harter, DVM

icn_drmike2.jpgDr. Harter graduated from Colorado State University as a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine in 1995. During undergraduate training (in Wildlife Ecology), before and during vet school, he worked in Diagnostic and Research Microbiology, specializing in the areas of wildlife disease, leprosy and tuberculosis. His professional interests include internal medicine, pain management, microbiology and infectious disease.


Mary Stromberg, DVM, MS

icn_drmary2.jpgA graduate of University of Illinois College of Veterinary Medicine, she also holds a Master's degree in veterinary pathology from the University of Nebraska. Dr. Stromberg's primary interests include diagnostic ultrasound and surgery.

She has been married to Lee since 1986 and has 3 children: Ashley, Zach and Josh. Outside of work she enjoys reading, fishing and gardening. Dr. Mary is a den leader in the local Cub Scout Pack. Most recently, Dr. Mary became a black belt in Tae Kwon Do. Her pet family includes dogs (Autumn and Fudge), cats (See-A-Tee, Mortimer, Pipsqueak, Mousetrap and Smudge), fish, turtles, rabbits and chickens.
