Chris Hart-Lizer, DVM

icn_drchris.jpgDr. Chris Hart-Lizer is a native of the Rockford area. She graduated from the University of Illinois College of Veterinary Medicine. Her professional interests include small animal medicine, specifically otology and dermatology, and also small animal surgery.

Outside of work she enjoys camping, fishing and gardening. Dr. Chris also enjoys cooking. She feels that it helps decrease the day-to-day stresses of life and finds it very relaxing. Her animal family consists of two dogs (Molly -- a rescued, three-legged terrier mix and Darien -- a young Rottweiler) and four cats (Jenetta, Seager, Glenn and LC).


Dr. Alicia Guarino-Hrebik 

Dr. Alicia Guarino-Hrebik returned to the Rockford area in 2009 after a 10 year absence. She earned her doctorateAlicia_web_pic.jpg in veterinary medicine from the University of Missouri -College of Veterinary Medicine in 2004 and was practicing in Wisconsin from 2004-2009. Her professional interests include small animal medicine and surgery as well as exotic and wildlife medicine.


Dr. Alicia has been married to Tony since 2007. They have two 4-legged “kids”, “Nestle” and “Trigger”, and “Tracks” the turtle. Outside of work, Dr Alicia loves the outdoors, spending time at her cabin in northern Wisconsin, and traveling.


J. Michael Harter, DVM

icn_drmike2.jpgDr. Harter graduated from Colorado State University as a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine in 1995. During undergraduate training (in Wildlife Ecology), before and during vet school, he worked in Diagnostic and Research Microbiology, specializing in the areas of wildlife disease, leprosy and tuberculosis. His professional interests include internal medicine, pain management, microbiology and infectious disease.



Jennifer Carroll-Wieners, DVM

icn_drjennifer.jpgDr. Carroll-Wieners is a graduate from the Iowa State University College of Veterinary Medicine. Her professional interests include behavior and small animal surgery. After hours, she enjoys running, playing in a symphony orchestra and the company of her cat (Arwen) and dog (Trapper).


Cary D. Thompson, DVM - Practice Owner

icn_drthompson.jpgDr. Cary Thompson graduated from Michigan State University in 1971 and has practiced in Rockford since 1973. He founded Animal Medical Clinic in 1986 with the goal of providing quality veterinary care for his clients' pets. His major interests are surgery and orthopedics. He has been married to Jan since 1968 and has two daughters, Mindy and Julie. Fishing, boating, traveling and some golf occupy his spare time.



Jim Buhl, MS, DVM - Practice Owner

icn_drbuhl.jpgDr. Jim Buhl, a Rockford native, graduated in the top 10% of his class from the University of Illinois. He completed his B.S. in Biology from the University of Illinois, and his M.S. in Biological Sciences from Northern Illinois University. His interests include internal medicine and surgery. He has been married to his wife, Margaret, since 2004. They have two daughters, Taylor and Georgia.  They also have a border collie named "Indy" who keeps them busy at home playing ball and Frisbee.
